The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) and the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) have declared the "New Port Terminal of San Juan de Marcona" project of interest, located in the district of Marcona, province of Nazca, department of Ica, Peru.
This privately funded initiative (IPA), involving an estimated investment of US$ 405 million, has been proposed by Terminal Portuario Jinzhao Perú S.A. It will be implemented through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, wherein the concessionaire assumes responsibility for the design, financing, construction, maintenance, and operation of the New Port Terminal. The construction and operation of the San Juan de Marcona Port Terminal will facilitate the handling of solid and liquid bulk, fractional cargo, containerized cargo, and other related services. The port will specialize in providing loading and unloading services, with a particular focus on iron concentrates, minerals, and mining supplies, catering to a capacity of up to 19 million metric tons of cargo from major mining projects in the region.
The concession for the New Port Terminal is set for 30 years, commencing with the signing of the concession contract.
