The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has signed the project agreements for the Al Haer Independent Sewage Treatment Plant Project located in Riyadh City, Saudi Arabia.
The agreement has been formalized with the Preferred Bidder, the Miahona and BESIX Consortium, which proposed a price of 1.9407 SAR/Cu.m. The plant is designed to have a treatment capacity of 200,000 m3/day. In alignment with SWPC’s goals to optimize Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) utilization, the project encompasses a TSE re-use system, featuring a 32 km transmission pipeline with a capacity of 400,000 m3, a pumping station, and TSE reservoir tanks with a capacity of 200,000 m3.
To involve the private sector in wastewater treatment, the project has been tendered to investors under the BOOT (Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer) model, with commercial operations set to commence in Q4 of 2026. The project concession will extend for 25 years, contributing to reduced operating costs and an increased local content percentage in business and human resources.
