Proinversión, the agency of the Government of Peru responsible for promoting investment and privatization, has launched a tender process to hire a transaction advisor for the Lake Titicaca sewage treatment plants project.
The project involves the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of 10 sewage-treatment plants to treat wastewater from the Titicaca Lake's basin.
The Lake Titicaca sewage treatment plants project will be developed in the provincial municipalities of Puno, Ilave, Juliaca, Ayaviri, Yunguyo, Azángaro, Juli, Huancané, Lampa and Moho. It aims to reduce pollution that is tainting waters in the.
Titicaca is located in the Andes on the border of Peru and Bolivia. By volume of water, it is the largest lake in South America.
Interested parties must submit their proposals on or before June 27, 2016.
In 2014, Graña y Montero SA submitted an unsolicited proposal to build and operate 10 sewage-treatment plants with an investment value of US$155 million. The contract agreement had a period of 30 years and it involved the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the plants.
The transaction advisor will be in charge of reviewing the private initiative submitted by Graña y Montero.
