The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN), will award the Longitudinal de la Sierra project Section 4 that will benefit 1.6 million inhabitants of Junín, Huancavelica, Ica, Ayacucho and Apurímac.
There are seven prequalified companies and the project will have a total cost of US$ 1,542 million to guarantee the rehabilitation, construction, improvement and maintenance of the road for 25 years. The bidders eligible to submit their technical and economic proposals are Sacyr Concesiones SL, Concesionaria Vial del Centro, Obrascon Huarte Lain SA, China Communications Construction Company Ltd (Peru Branch), Consorcio Carretera de los Andes, Operadora Surperú SA and the R&R Consortium.
The project promoted by PROINVERSIÓN on behalf of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) covers approximately 900 km, of which 627 km will receive initial periodic maintenance. Added to this are 148 km of rehabilitation and improvement and the San Clemente Bypass construction in Ica (5 km). The remaining section will be handed over by the sector to be operated and maintained from the start of the concession.
