The Solid Waste Management Enterprise of Serres SA, the contracting authority, announced on January 3rd, 2014, that the consortium Achirodon-Intrakat-Envitec is the preferred bidder for the implementation of a new waste treatment unit in Serres, Greece, via a PPP.
The other two candidates that submitted binding offers were Terna Energy and the consortium Mesogeos and J&P Avax. Binding offers were submitted on December 11th, 2013.
The project involves the design, financing, construction, maintenance and operation of the facilities for the waste management facilities in the region of Serres for 27 years.
The waste management project of Serres is the second PPP project in Greece procured with the competitive dialogue procedure and the second waste management PPP that combines private resources and EU funds, following the Peloponnese waste management PPP.
The total annual amount of waste to be managed has been estimated at 90.000 tons.
The construction costs are estimated at €65 million.
