The contracting authority Region of Epirus has selected Archidoron Group NV - Intrakat - Envitec consortium to undertake the implementation of the Epirus waste management PPP project in Greece.
The team beat out competition from four others bider:
The preferred bidder will undertake the design, financing, construction, maintenance, facility management and operation of the respective waste treatment facility for 27 years.
The facility in Epirus will manage about 150 thousand tons of waste annually, including all municipal solid waste generated in the entire administrative area of Epirus.
As in all waste management PPP competitions in Greece, the process allowed all available technologies that cover the environmental targets, European and Greek legislation. The lowest fee to be paid by the users constituted the main selection criterion, while meeting all environmental goals. The project will be co-financed by the European Union's structural funds.
The tender competition was launched in April 2013 and, after the issuance of the decisions of the State Council on candidates's appeals, preferred bidder was announced within 15 months after the initial invitation for expressions of interest.
This project is the fifth waste management PPP tender concluding in Greece, following the waste management PPPs in Peloponnese, Western Macedonia, Serres and Elia.
