The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan (GoU), through Uzbekistan Airports JSC (UzAirports), The Ministry of Transport (MOT) and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has planned to implement a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project for the reconstruction and management of Urgench International Airport situated near the city of Urgench within Uzbekistan's Khorezm Region.
The Project encompasses the reconstruction and management of Urgench Airport including the construction of a new 3,500-m runway, main taxiway, high-speed and interconnecting taxiways, as well as the reconstruction of existing infrastructure like the apron. Additionally, the project includes the construction of new terminals for both passengers and cargo, a government terminal, a special equipment building, and a catering complex. The aerodrome and the new government terminal will fall under the responsibility of the Public Partner. The Private Partner will be responsible for the passenger terminal and its surrounding area, the cargo terminal, the special equipment building, and the catering complex. UzAirports has engaged PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and White-and-Case (W&C) as specialized consultants to assist in the selection of a private partner through a competitive bidding process.
Interested parties are encouraged to submit preliminary indications of interest before April 15, 2024. Following this, a formal prequalification process (RFQ) will be launched later in the spring, with detailed information available on the Government of Uzbekistan and UzAirports portals.
