The Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust has announced via a prior information notice that it plans to launch a tender process to develop the Midland Metropolitan Hospital Project through new British private finance initiative model, PF2.

The scheduled start date for the tender procedure is around 24 April 2014. Interested parties are invited to attend a market information day, which is scheduled for 6 March 2014.

The project cost is estimated at £250 million (US$ 475 million).

The project will be developed on a design, build, and maintenance basis. The new 80,000 m² hospital will provide, among others,  A&E, maternity, childrens' services, critical care, diagnostics and the full range of acute hospital services.

The contract is also likely to include hard facilities management services and lifecycle maintenance over the operational life of the facilities, but will not include soft facilities management services or sterile services.
