Pernambuco starts public consultation for BR-232 road concession

Pernambuco State Committee for Public-Private Partnerships (CGPE) started, on October 7th, a public consultation for the administrative concession for the implementation, upgrade, operation and maintenance of the Portal Oeste highway, the Recife-Caruaru stretch of highway BR-232 and adjacent roads.

The project was structured via a Procedure of Expressions of Interest (PMI). The studies were prepared by a consortium of companies consisting of Odebrecht Transport Participações SA , Investimentos e Participações em Infra-estrutura S.A. (INVEPAR) and Queiroz Galvão SA.

The authorization to carry out the feasibility studies was granted on May 20, 2013. The Government of Pernambuco hired Projetec - Projetos Técnicos Ltda to evaluate the Feasibility studies prepared by the consortium.

The public consultation will take place until November 5.

The state of Pernambuco recently awarded a PPP waste contract in the municipality of Paulista.  Compesa, Pernambuco state water company, also awarded a PPP water project in February 2013 to a consortium led by Odebrecht.

Regarding projects in the pipeline, Pernambuco is also preparing a tender process for a PPP project for an Integrated campus at the University of Pernambuco. Odebrecht is working on the Feasibility study.
