Paraguay's Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has recently announced that the opening of proposals for the expansion and improvement of routes 2 and 7 in Paraguay, which was planned for April 28th has been extended until June 29th after bidders interested in the project requested it.
A total of eleven teams are pre-qualified for the road project:
The project is expected to be the first infrastructure project to be carried out as a public-private partnership (PPP) under the country's recently-passed PPP law.
Route 2 links Asuncion and Coronel Oviedo while route 7 links Coronel Oviedo and Ciudad Este.
The project involves the capacity duplication of 142 km of the route 2, and the capacity duplication between Km 30 and Km 183 of the route 7.
The total project investment is estimated at US$400 million.
