McMaster University, a public research university located in Hamilton, Ontario (Canada), has selected Vaughan-based developer Textbook Suites as preferred bidder for the the design, build, finance and management of a new graduate student residence (GSR) under the PPP model.
This project would be the first graduate and off-campus residence for McMaster. The GSR will provide a modern, energy-efficient building to help address McMaster’s space constraints. McMaster has approximately 1,200 graduate and 300 Postdoctoral Fellows.
McMaster aims to provide 300 to 500 beds in a 8-level building. In a building of 400 beds at approximately 30 beds per community, this allows for 13 communities.
Land for the GSR is not available on McMaster’s campus. Therefore McMaster is looking for proponents to identify one or more potential sites for the location of the GSR.
McMaster conducted a graduate student residence survey in 2013 that included student amenity preferences.
The request for proposals (RFP) stage has closed for shortlisted teams to submit bids to design, build and finance the Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Ontario (Canada).
