Ontario seeks FM adviser for hospital P3 project

Infrastructure Ontario has invited consultancy firms to submit proposals to provide facility management advisory services for the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital New Facility Project. The project, located in Ontario, will be delivered using the Design Build Maintain Finance Alternative Financing and Procurement model.

The successful respondent will provide advisory services to the sponsors on facilities management strategies, produce facilities management output specifications, which will be integrated into the Project Specific Output Specifications by the planning, design and compliance consultant, and provide lifecycle and facilities management costing to an independent cost consultant retained by the sponsors.

Submissions will be received on December 13, 2013.

Construction of the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital - on a portion of an 82-acre parcel of land owned by the City at Major Mackenzie Drive and Jane Street - is scheduled to begin in 2015, with the doors expected to open in 2019.

In addition to the hospital, the plan allows for a range of other healthcare services on this land, including medical and dental offices, as well as facilities related to research and laboratory, rehabilitation and long-term care, education, training, healthcare related meeting and conference space, and businesses or health centres that promote wellness.

Approved by the province in July 2011, the new hospital will be a state-of-the-art, full-service medical facility that will also serve as a key economic driver for the city.
