Odebrecht submits unsolicited proposal for Tuxpan-Tampico road project in Mexico

The Mexican press has reported that the Brazilian construction firm, Odebrecht has been the first company submitting an unsolicited proposal to the 'Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes (SCT)' after the approval of the new Public Private Partnership (PPP) law.

Odebrecht proposes to build the road Tuxpan-Tampico, in the east of the country. The project would involve an investment of 7,000 million pesos (US$552 million).

According to the SCT,  other companies can submit proposals for the project until 15 January 2014.

The project consists of the construction of a 246 km four lane highway,  including the construction of the bypasses of Tampico and Tuxpan. The project objective is speeding the traffic flows along the Veracruz - Matamoros corridor and improving access from the south and southeastern regions to the northern border of the country.

Odebrecht already announced that it plans to invest in Latin America $20,000 million over the next three years.
