Odebrecht Ambiental has been the only bidder in the tender processes for the Mauá water supply project and for the Santo André water & waste project.
In early October 2015, we reported that Sao Paulo's Federal Audit Court (TCE/SP) suspended the process for the Mauá water supply project after the water company of the state of Sao Paulo (SABESP) presented complaints regarding the tender documents. During the same period of time and for the same reason TCE/SP also suspended the tender process for the Santo André water & waste PPP project. Later, the two tender process were re-launched with modified tender documents.
After that, Odebrecht Ambiental was the only bidder in both processes.
The two projects will be developed under the public private partnership (PPP) model. The contracts value are estimated at R$150 million (US$42.7 million) for the Mauá concession and R$600 million (US$171 million) for the Santo André concession.
Odebrecht Ambiental will be responsible for the the upgrade, operation and maintenance of the Mauá's water distribution system for a period of 30 years.
And the firm will be responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the Santo André water supply and wastewater systems. Additionally, Odebrecht Ambiental will be responsible for the O&M of a new water treatment plant and for the management of the physical losses in the city's waterworks network.
