Nigeria closes transaction advisory EOI for road PPP project

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Works, yesterday closed an invitation  for transaction advisors to express interest to structure the Ilorin - Jebba - Mokwa - Tegina - Kaduna road as a PPP project. The project involves 480km road.

The Federal Ministry of Works has received an unsolicited proposal on the development of the project, which is planned to be developed on a design, build, finance, operation and transfer (DBFOT) basis.

The transaction advisors will undertake key tasks that shall include but not limited to the following:

  • update of the unsolicited outline business case and financial model;
  • project management;
  • PPP advisory (legal & technical & financial);
  • PPP structuring and marketing and
  • development of a procurement plan and full business case for the project.

Nigeria currently has several PPP projects in planning stage. For instance, in March this year, the Ministry of Sports of Nigeria appointed a Project Steering Committee and a Project Delivery Team to concession the National Stadium in Lagos as well as the Athletes hostel in Abuja.

Kogi state also announced plans this month to develop a bridge stretching about 2Km across river Niger and river Benue. The project aims to ease the movement of people from the hinterland into the state capital, Lokoja.
