NHS Orkney launches hospital NPD tender

NHS Orkney, one of the fourteen regions of the NHS Scotland, has issued a contract notice for the delivery of the new Orkney Hospital and Healthcare Facility NPD

The PPP project involves the design, build, finance and maintenance (DBFM) of a new hospital for a period of 25 years plus 3 years for construction.

The project has an estimated value between £180 and £220 million. The capital cost of the construction works is estimated at £59 million (US$101 million). The project will be delivered under  the Scottish Futures Trust's Non-Profit Distributing (NPD) model which is in the form of public-private partnership preferred by the Scottish Government.

The new Orkney Hospital and Health Care Facility will be constructed on a site at New Scapa Road, Orkney. The objective of the project is to provide NHS Orkney with a new hospital and health care facility to service the needs of patients in the Orkney area.

NHS Orkney will hold a Bidders' Open Day on 14 August 2014. Interested parties can receive specifications and additional documents until 22 August 2014.

The deadline to submit request to participate is 5 September 2014. The invitations to participate is expected to be announced by the end on October.
