National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has re-launched the tender process for the 4/6-Laning of Solapur-Bijapur section of NH-13 PPP project.
In mid November 2013 Solapur Bijapur Tollway Pvt Ltd (SBTPL), a subsidiary of Sadbhav Engineering Ltd, terminated the concession agreement signed in May 2012 with the NHAI to develop the project. Sadbhav had already reported financial closure as well as syndication for the entire investment.
The total investment was estimated at Rs.12 billion (US$200 million).
According to the new request for qualification issued for the project, as the first time, it will be developed on design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis in build, operate and transfer (BoT) toll mode of delivery. It has a concession period of 20 years.
The project involves the four/six laning of Solapur- Bijapur section of NH-13 from km 0.000 to km 110.542 in the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka. The scope of work will include rehabilitation, up-gradation and widening of the existing carriageway to four-lane construction of new pavement, rehabilitation of existing pavement, construction or rehabilitation of major and minor bridges, culverts, road intersections, interchanges, drains, etc. and the operation and maintenance thereof.
The new request for qualification was issued on 30 May 2014. Interested parties must submit their proposals on or before 14 July 2014. The shortlist is expected to be announced in late July.
