New York state, USA, has launched a request for proposals (RFP) for the provision of high internet high-speed Internet service trough a concession contract.
The project will be developed in phases, the first phase involving the improvement of broadband Internet access in, among others, libraries and adult education centers.
According to sources, the state has plans to invest US$500 million to give access to broadband service of 25 to 100 megabits per second (Mbps) to residents. It is expected that the selected firms will have to provide a 50 % of the total investment.
The RFP involve the first phase of the project. Interested parties must submit their proposals on or before 15 April 2015. The project phase I is expected to be operational by 31 December 2018.
