The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) and the concessionaire Operadora Internacional Aeropuerto de Cartagena SAS (OINAC) have signed the contract initiation document for the expansion, remodeling, operation, and maintenance of the air terminal of the Rafael Núñez International Airport in Cartagena, Colombia.
The concession contract granted in November 2023 to OINAC for the Rafael Núñez International Airport involves the construction of a new 17,360 m² international terminal and the renovation of 2,814 m² of the existing terminal. The concession period spans 8.5 years, encompassing 1 year of pre-construction, 2.5 years of construction, and 5 years of operation and maintenance. Project components include expanding the commercial platform by 15,740 m², totaling 99,770 m², developing 11,683 m² of parking space for 330 vehicles, and constructing a parallel runway road to enhance airport operations.
The new concessionaire will undertake 22 interventions, alongside maintaining the control tower, and Aerocivil offices, and addressing locative repairs for floors, walls, ceilings, doors, and lighting. Sociedad Aeroportuaria de la Costa SA (Sacsa), the airport's operator since 1996, has handed over the completed areas, assets, works, and improvements.
