National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) in Colombia has awarded the concession contract for Autopistas del Caribe 2 highway concession to Plural Autopistas Caribbean consortium.
Plural Autopistas Caribbean comprises KMA Construcciones SA, H + ERA SAS (Obresca SAS) and Ortiz Construcciones. The consortium will be responsible for the design, construction, operation, maintenance as well as social, property and environmental management of Autopistas del Caribe Road and Freight Corridor Cartagena-Barranquilla. The project scope includes intervention of 250 kilometers long La Cordialidad road connecting Cartagena with Barranquilla, construction of 78 kilometers of new lanes, 16 kilometers invariants and 8 intersections.
ANI is expecting to sign the concession contract at the beginning of September 2021. The estimated investment value for the project is COP4.3 trillion (US$1.1 billion). The highway will reduce the travel time by up to 36% and generate more than 4,000 jobs.
Odinsa, the concessionaire for Pacifico 2 road concession, has successfully refinanced the debt for the project. The company signed the credit agreement for US$260 million with Itaú, SMBC, BNP Paribas, and CDPQ Revenu Fixe Inc.
