The city of Feira de Santana in Bahia, Brazil, has signed a public private partnership (PPP) agreement to develop the Centro de Comércio Popular, a trade center project.
The project was structured via "Procedimento de Manifestação de Interesse" (PMI), published in January 2014. The concessionaire is a consortium composed of Fundação Doimo, Grupo TPC Participações S/A, Mais Invest Empreendimentos e Incorporação S/A, and Piu Invest Empreendimentos e Incorporação S/A.
Under the terms of the agreement the consortium will be responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of the new facilities during a 30 years period.
The contract value is estimated at R$92,2 million (US$24.4 million). The contract includes subsidies for a total amount of R$13 million, which has been approved by the municipal law.
Feira de Santana is the second-most populous city in the state of Bahia, with a population of approximately 620,000 inhabitants. It is located 100 km northwest of Salvador, Bahia's capital city. These cities are connected by BR-324, a four-lane divided highway.
