The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has announced that it has qualified to bid as the main consultant for the first phase of the Metro public-private partnership (PPP) project in Bahrain.
DMRC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with BEML, a state-owned equipment manufacturer, for the supply of rolling stock. According to MOU, BEML will be in charge of manufacturing and supplying the rolling stock, while Delhi Metro will provide expertise in project development, budgeting and facilitating the development of contractual obligations for the Bahrain Metro project. 11 bids have been submitted for a contract to build and operate the subway worth US$2 billion. The winner company will finance, design, build, maintain and transfer the project at the end of the 35-year period.
