Morocco studies 7 road PPPs

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport of Morocco has recently announced the upcoming development of seven new highways through the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

According to the local sources, the ministry has already selected an initial list of highways whose construction and management will see the involvement of the private and public sectors. The list of new road PPP projects to be implemented is the following:

  • Fès-Oujda highway extension up to the city of Nador,
  • A proposed new route between Tangier and Tetouan
  • The connection between the dipoles Fez / Meknes and Tangier / Tetouan.
  • The new continental axis Rabat-Casablanca
  • A road linking Marrakech to Kelaat Sraghna
  • A bypass in the city of Agadir
  • The link between the cities of Fès and Taounat

This future infrastructure will be developed under a new road program, which will provide more than 1,500 new kilometers of highways across Morocco. The new road program is aimed to interconnect the principal business centers in the country.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport plans to include the seven PPP projects in the program by the end of the year.
