Mexico to re-tender hospital concession

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has re-launched the tender process for a new hospital PPP project located in Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit state, Mexico.

The IMSS concluded that bids received in the first tender should have incorporated documents to ensure the technical and legal feasibility of the proposals. IMSS expects to award the project in the first semester of the year.

The project involves the development of a new hospital under a design, build, finance, operate and maintain (DBFOM) contractwith a duration of the concession period of 25 years.  The new facilities will have a total of 144 beds and 33 consulting rooms.

The total project investment is estimated at MXN1.14 billion (US$62 million), of which the federal government will invest MXN509 million in 2016 and MXN634 million in 2017. The project is expected to be completed by 2019.

As we reported in October 2015 this project is part of a major Government plan to develop a total of seven hospitals through the public private partnership (PPP) model.

At the end of June we also reported the re-launch of the Mérida new Hospital located in the municipality Yucatán, also included in the Government above referred scheme. This project has a total capacity of 91 beds.
