The water utility unit of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), MetroPac Water Investments Corporation (MWIC), has won the Iloilo Bulk Water Supply PPP project in Philippines.
MWIC will be responsible for the upgrade, expansion, operation and maintenance of the existing water production facilities of Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD). The facilities are expected to provide approximately 170 million liters per day of bulk water supply to MIWD during the next 25 years.
The total project investment is estimated at P2.8 billion (US$59.4 million), based on 2014 prices.
Iloilo City is a highly urbanized city on Panay island in the Philippines. It is the capital city of the province of Iloilo and is also the regional center of the Western Visayas region as well as the center of the Iloilo-Guimaras Metropolitan Area. Iloilo City has a population of approximately 425,000 inhabitants. For the metropolitan area, the total population is approximately 880,000 inhabitants.
We have recently reported that three teams bid for the Bulacan bulk water supply PPP project located in north of Manila. The project will be developed on a design, build, finance, operation and maintenance basis through a build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract agreement. The contract period will be 32 years.
