Meridiam selected as preferred bidder for critical water infrastructure asset in Jordan

The government of Jordan has selected Meridiam as the preferred bidder for the Aqaba Amman water desalination and conveyance project.

The Meridiam-led project team, which includes global and regional partners Orascom Construction, VINCI Construction Grands Projets, and SUEZ, is working on infrastructure that will supply over 300 million cubic meters of drinking water annually to communities in Amman and Aqaba. This includes desalination plants and approximately 445 km of pipelines transporting water from the Red Sea. The project is set to increase the domestic water supply by nearly 60%, providing enough drinking water to meet the needs of over 3 million people each year. This Jordanian project is receiving worldwide backing and collaboration, notably from the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and USAID in Amman, Jordan, which has been guiding the Jordanian government.
