Pakistan’s National Highway Authority has launched a tender process to seek private partners for a road PPP project.
The NHA has issued a pre-qualification document for the construction of Hyderabad - Sukkur Motorway, 296 Km, 6-lane divided, limited access facility on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis.
The estimated construction cost is PKR163 billion (US$1.53 billion).
The motorway is a section of 1,152 km Karachi - Lahor Motorway (KLM), part of the US$46 billion China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, aimed at upgrading and expanding Pakistan’s infrastructure.
The general alignment runs parallel to the National Highway N-5, which carries 65% traffic of Pakistan.
The road had been divided into four sections including 136 km Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway, 296 km Hyderabad -Sukkur Motorway, 387 km Sukkur-Multan Motorway and 333 km Multan-Lahore Motorway. All the segments have either been completed or awarded for construction except the Hyderabad - Sukkur motorway.
The last date for submissions of application is November 15.
