VINCI Concessions’ international highways subsidiary has announced it has reached an agreement with a Brazilian group to purchase a toll road in Peru.

VINCI Highways has signed the agreement with INVEPAR for the acquisition of 100% of LAMSAC company, the concessionaire-holder of Línea Amarilla toll road in the center of Lima, and PEX, LAMSAC’s electronic toll collection operator.

The deal is based on an enterprise value of LAMSAC and PEX at PEN5.5 billion (US$1.62 billion) as of 31 December 2015.

LAMSAC holds a concession contract with the Municipality of Lima to build, operate and maintain the 25km-toll road, valid until November 2049. The transaction will be finalized and the operations are transferred in the second half of 2016, once the required approvals have been obtained.

In 2015, traffic on LAMSAC averaged 134,000 vehicles/day. Traffic will further increase following the completion of a new section under construction. With an average annual growth rate of more than 6% over the past 10 years, Peru features a very attractive economy.

This transaction is part of VINCI Concessions’ strategy of expansion in an area with strong growth potential. On 21 April 2015, VINCI Airports notably won the concession contract for the international airport in Santiago de Chile as part of a joint venture, which began operating the airport in October 2015. The construction of a new terminal, which will get under way soon, is expected to double the airport's capacity.

More broadly, this transaction reflects the VINCI Group's expansion goals in Latin America. With the acquisition of the Brazilian Orteng Engenharia e Sistemas company in March 2015, VINCI Energies began operating in Brazil, where it has become a leader in services linked to energy and industry. More recently, the group formed a strategic partnership with Constructora Conconcreto, a leading Colombian construction and real estate development company, to help support Colombia’s major road infrastructure development projects.

Brookfield closes $14 Billion Global Infrastructure Fund

Brookfield Asset Management Inc. has announced that it held the final close on Brookfield Infrastructure Fund III (BIF III) with an aggregate of US$14 billion of equity commitments, creating a global infrastructure fund that invests in high-quality, core infrastructure assets on a value basis. BIF III marks the largest private fund raised by Brookfield and the largest private infrastructure fund ever raised in the industry. In the last 18 months, Brookfield has raised approximately US$27 billion across its flagship private fund strategies, including the close of its flagship real estate fund, Brookfield Strategic Real Estate Partners II at US$9 billion, and its flagship private equity fund, Brookfield Capital Partners IV at US$4 billion. All three funds surpassed their fundraising targets. Total capital commitments of BIF III exceed the original US$10 billion fundraising target, reflecting a robust investment pipeline and strong investor demand for the asset class. BIF III’s predecessor fund closed in 2013 with US$7 billion of total capital commitments. Investors in the Fund are a diverse group of over 120 institutional investors, including public and private pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, financial institutions, endowments and foundations and family offices. Brookfield committed US$4 billion to the Fund, ensuring alignment of interests with other Fund investors. Brookfield’s commitment will be funded through Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. and Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P. To date, the Fund has committed to invest over US$3 billion in assets consistent with the Fund’s investment strategy, including a portfolio of U.S. hydroelectric facilities, a portfolio of Brazilian electricity transmission projects, a leading Colombian power generation company, a portfolio of Peruvian toll roads and a U.S. water infrastructure project developer.  Read more
