Autostrade Del Lazio, a public company created to build and manage the future motorway Rome-Latina, has awarded the public private partnership (PPP) project called "Corridoio intermodale Roma-Latina e collegamento Cisterna-Valmontone" to the SIS Scpa consortium, a team of formed by Sacyr (49%) and Fininc di Torino (51%).

The team beat out competition from Salini Impregilo, the other company that bid for the project. Salini Impregilo won the technical phase with 38.46 points (SIS obtained 24.41 points). However, SIS has won the project due to the fact that it requested a very low grant, getting 30 points in the financial evaluation, against the 5.48 of Salini Impregilo.

The project involves the development of a 186 km highways including a 68.3 km stretch between Roma and Latina, a 31.5 km stretch linking Cisterna and Valmonte and several new local road connections.

The concession includes the design, build, finance, operation and maintenance of the new road for a period of 50 years.

The total project investment is estimated at €2,8 billion (US$3,14 billion).

The project financing will include a €468 million government grant and an additional €500 million from public funds to carry out the Cisterna - Valmonte road.

The project will improve the Italian national system of motorways. Currently, the total length of the system is about 6,758 km. In north and central Italy, the highways are mainly tolled, with the biggest portion (3,408 km) being operated through concessions with Atlantia group (Autostrade per l'Italia).
