Camargo Correa and Andrade Gutierrez win Sao Lourenco water PPP project

Sabesp, São Paulo public water utility company, has awarded the US$755 million São Lourenço water concession contract to a consortium composed of Camargo Corrêa and Andrade Gutierrez.

According to local sources, a special purpose company for the concession should be formed by September 12, 2013.

The 25-year Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract involves the build and operate of the São Lourenço water system, the number seven for the supply of the metropolitan region of São Paulo. At first, the water supply should supply water to the municipalities of Itapevi, Jandira, Carapicuiba and Barueri and indirectly Santana Parnaíba, a total population of 1.5 million. The project includes building water uptakes, treatment plants and pumping stations.

The projected revenue over the concession period is approximately R$6.03 billion.

Sabesp had launched the tender process in November 2012 and it published a new deadline for the process in January 2013.
