China Railway Construction Corporation announces award of three road BOT projects

China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, the Chinese state-owned construction enterprise that was the second largest construction and engineering company in the world by revenue in 2014, has recently announced that the firm has won three tender processes to develop road BOT projects in Chongqing, China.

The road projects will be developed on a build operation and transfer (BOT) basis. The concession period will be 29 years and eight months fr the three projects. The total bidding price of the three projects is approximately RMB40.4 billion (US$6.16 billion).

Specifically, the company has won the following three road projects:

Nanchong-Dazu-Luzhou Expressway

The project comprises the development of a 139 km dual-way and four-lane expressway with a designed speed of 100 km/h and a construction period of approximately 36 months, from 31 December 2016 to 30 December 2019. The project will have a subsidy of RMB5 million (US$0.76 million) per kilometer granted by the local government.

Capacity Enhancement of Yuqian Expressway

The project comprises the development of a 100 km dual-way and six-lane expressway with a designed speed of 100 km/h and a construction period of approximately 48 months, from 31 December 2016 to 30 December 2020.

Liangping-Qianjiang Expressway

The project comprises the development of a 86 km dual-way and four-lane expressway with a designed speed of 80 km/h and a construction period of approximately 48 months, from 31 December 2015 to 30 December 2019.

Chongqing is a major city in Southwest China and one of the five national central cities in China. Administratively, it is one of China's four direct-controlled municipalities, and the only such municipality in inland China. As of 2010 census, the municipality had a population of about 26 million inhabitants.
