Mexico tenders three road concessions

The Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT) of Mexico, the national federal entity in Mexico in charge of concession projects, launched in late 2015 the tender process for three road concessions.

The three new contracts out for private bids are the following:

Tepic - San Blas highway concession

Design, build, finance, operation and maintenance (DBFOM) of the Tepic - San Blas highway that starts at El Trapichillo interchange, km 6+600 federal road MEX-015D Tepic-Villa Unión, and ends at km 8+060 of the federal road MEX-015 Santa Cruz-San Blas. the stretch has a length of 31 km in the state of Nayarit.

The project includes the upgrade of 23 Km of roads and the new construction of a 2.3 km stretch. 

Key dates:

  • Deadline to buy tender documents: 15 January 2016
  • Visit to project site: 21 January 2016
  • Project meeting: 18 February 2016
  • Deadline to submit proposals: 29 March 2016

Las Varas - Puerto Vallarta highway concession

Design, build, finance, operation and maintenance (DBFOM) during 30 years of the Las Varas - Puerto Vallarta highway in the states of Jalisco and Nayarit.

Key dates:

  • Deadline to buy tender documents: 9 March 2016
  • Visit to project site: 27 January 2016
  • Project meeting: 19 February 2016
  • Deadline to submit proposals: 10 March 2016

"Viaducto La Raza Indios Verdes Santa Clara" elevated highway PPP project

The preferred bidder would be responsible for the design, build, finance, operation and maintenance (DBFOM) of the new road during the 30 year concession period.

The road PPP project involves the construction of a new 9.5 km elevated highway that will connect the north part of Mexico city with the México-Pachuca road. The highway will have four lanes in each direction.

  • Deadline to buy tender documents: 16 March 2016
  • Visit to project site: 11 February 2016
  • Project meeting: 17 February 2016
  • Deadline to submit proposals: 17 March 2016

The Viaducto La Raza Indios Verdes Santa Clara project was already tendered in 2015 but the proposals did not reach the exigencies of the SCT. According to SCT the economical proposals submitted by an Omega Corporacion - led consortium and Mota-Engil México were considered insolvent. 

Firms that could be interested in these tender processes include: Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura (P-infra), OHL, Controladora de Operaciones de Infraestructura (ICA), Sacyr Concesiones México, Constructora y Edificadora GIA+A, FCC, Omega Corporación, IDEAL, Mota Engil and China Harbour Engineering Company México.

    OHL Mexico raises $529 million in share sale

    OHL México, the Mexican subsidiary of Spanish construction company OHL, has raised 6.99bn pesos (US$529 million) in a share sale in Mexico.  55.4% of the offering was taken up by international investors, and 44.6% by local investors. The share sale closed yesterday, 26 June 2013.The money received will be used to cover the company's cash flow needs, finance its current investment plan and implement new projects.OHL México sold 13.91 % of the firm capital. The firm had launched an IPO in November 2010 selling 26.1 % of its capital.
