The Government of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Investments and Development (MID) has shortlisted five teams for the Almaty Ring Road PPP Project (BAKAD).

The five teams have to submit their final bids on 15 September this year. The preferred bidder will be responsible for the finance, build, operate and maintain the new toll road with a 6/4 lane profile in the north of Almaty city.
The project involves the development of a 66 km road around Almaty under a 20 year long build, operate and transfer (BTO) contract.
The total project investment is estimated at US$680 million. The EBRD, ADB and IFC are analyzing to provide about US$650 million in financing for the project. Financial close is expected to be achieved by mid 2016.
BAKAD is a pilot project under a PPP structure in the road sector in Kazakhstan, implemented by the Government of Kazakhstan in co-operation with EBRD and IFC as transaction advisor. Gide Loyrette Nouel, Colibri Law and Seco International are also advising the government.
