Bids in for St- Lawrence bridge P3 in Canada

The Government of Canada has received proposals for the new St. Lawrence bridge public private partnership (P3) project in Montreal, Ontario. 

The new bridge for the St. Lawrence corridor project (NBSLC) is one of the largest infrastructure projects in North America. The three shortlisted teams that have bid for the project are the following:

The project involves the design, build, finance, operate and maintain the new Île des Soeurs Bridge, reconstruction and widening of Autoroute 15 on Montreal island,• reconstruction of Autoroute 15 on Île des Soeurs Bridge, tolling infrastructure and intelligent transportation systems  and the operation and maintenance of the Clement Bridge.

The contract is for a period of 35 years after the financial close. It includes a construction period of approximately five years and a fixed operating period of 30 years. The operating period could be extended in the case of early completion of construction but will not be less than 30 years.

Construction works are set to begin in the summer of 2015. The new bridge is expected to be operational in 2018 and to having the remainder of the corridor project, including the reconstruction of Autoroute 15 and the new Île des SÅ“urs Bridge, completed by 2020.
