Almaty ring road PPP presented to investors on Dec 9 in London

The Government of Kazakhstan in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) is inviting all those interested to attend an investors' conference (road-show) for the Almaty Ring Road PPP Project (BAKAD).

BAKAD is a pilot project under a Public-Private-Partnership structure in the road sector in Kazakhstan, implemented by the Government of Kazakhstan in co-operation with EBRD and IFC as transaction advisor. The objective of the project is to finance, build, operate and maintain a 66 km toll road with a 6/4 lane profile in the north of Almaty city.

Main features of the project are:
  • availability payment structure;
  • a 20 year long BTO (build-transfer-operate) contract;
  • traffic and currency risks mitigated by the government;
  • other government support measures.
