ANI announces 8 new road PPP projects

Colombia's National Council for Economic and Social Policy (CONPES) has prioritized eight new road projects, which will be part of the next phase of the National Infrastructure Agency's (ANI) fourth generation (4G) of highway concessions.

The total projects investment is estimated at US$16.4 billion. The eight road public private partnership (PPP) projects are the following:

  • Neiva - Girardot; the project involves the development of a new 79 km road and the upgrade of a 190 km road.
  • Villavicencio - Yopal; the project involves the development of a new 48 km road and the upgrade of a 212 km road.
  • Rumichaca - Pasto; the project involves the development of a new 80 km road.
  • Puerta de Hierro - Carreto - Palmar de Varela; Carreto - Cruz del Viso; the project involves the upgrade of a 175 km road.
  • Santana - Mocoa - Neiva: The project involves the development of a new 54 km road and the upgrade of a 422 road.
  • Santander de Quilichao - Popayán; the project involves the development of a new 76 km road.
  • Barrancabermeja - Bucaramanga; the project involves the development of a new 194 km road and the upgrade of a 67 km road.
  • Sisga - El secreto; the project involves the upgrade of the road.

Two other road PPP projects are also part of the next phase of the ANI's 4G of highway concessions package. The two road concessions are currently in shortlist stage. The projects are the following:

  • Sea highway 1 ('Autopistas de la Prosperidad' package); the project involves the development of the following 176 km road stretches: Occidente-San Jerónimo, San Jerónimo-Santafé de Antioquia and Bolombolo-Santafé de Antioquia. The total project investment is estimated at US$731 million.
  • Sea highway 2 ('Autopistas de la Prosperidad' package); the project involves the development of the following 139 km road stretches: Cañasgordas - Uramita; Variante Fuemia; Túnel de Fuemia; Debeiba - Mutatá and Mutatá - El Tigre. The total project investment is estimated at US$812 million.

As part of the Autopistas para la Prosperidad package, ANI signed in mid September Pacific Connection highway concession 1 and Pacific Connection highway concession 2. ANI also awarded on 22 October 2014 the Magdalena River highway 2 concession, on 17 October 2014 the Connection North highway concession and on 15 July 2014 the Pacific Connection highway concession 3.
