Triunfo Participações e Investimentos (TPI) has won the tender process for the concession of Brazil's federal highways BR-060, BR-153 and BR-262.

The winner was based on the lowest toll charge offered. The ceiling price was set at 5.94 reais per 100km. TPI won with a bid of 2.85 reais. Second was Invepar with a bid of 3.43 reais per 100km and third a proposal of 3.49 reais from a consortium led by Ecorodvias.

The project involves 1,177km of highway stretches along BR-060, BR-153 and BR-262, passing through the Federal District and the states of Goiás and Minas Gerais. The contract has an investment during the first five years of R$3.98 billion (US$1.9 billion). The project involves installing 11 tollbooths and widening 648km of highway stretches before the fifth year of the concession.

The project consists of three diferent sections:

  • The BR-060 links the capital, Brasilia, with the central state of Goias and runs through Anapolis, a major agricultural and industrial hub in central Brazil.
  • The BR-153 connects the central city of Goiania with the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo and it is a key route for transporting farm products to consumer markets.
  • The BR-262 links Brasilia with Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais.

Triunfo will invest R7.15 billion (US$3.1 billion) during the life of the 30-year concession contract in highway expansions, improvements and modernization projects.
