The Government of Croatia launched last week a tender to concession 1,024 kilometres of motorways in order to repay loans for their construction and reduce public debt. The motorway concession will include Bregana - Zagreb - Lipovac, Zagreb - Split - Ravca, Zagreb - Rijeka, and Zagreb - Gorican motorways.
The government expects to get 22.51 billion kunas (2.9 billion euros, $4.0 billion) from the concession for toll roads.
Bidders interested in operating and maintaining the assets must respond by November 15. After the pre-qualifying phase, shortlisted bidders will be invited to make final offers.
The duration of the concession is still not clear and it would be determined by mid-2014.
InfraPPP had announced in September 2012, that the government was seeking for advisors to structure the deal. Erste Group from Vienna, together with Deloitte and Wolf Theiss Rechtsanwalte were chosen to structure the concession.
