National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded to MBL Infrastructures Ltd. (MLB) the contract for the Six laning of the Udaipur bypass (Package-IV of Kishangarh-Udaipur-Ahmedabad stretch).
MBL will develop the project on DBFOT (Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer) hybrid annuity basis. The total project cost is estimated at INR7.8 billion (US$114.5 million) of which 40 per cent will be funded by NHAI and the balance 60 per cent will be arranged by the concessionaire.
According to sources, NHAI will pay MLB this 60 per cent in semi annual payments along with interests and also semi annual payments for operation and maintenance (O&M) totaling INR637.5 million (US$9.4 million).
In recent years, MBL has executed and commenced a number of EPC and BOT projects in the states of West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Haryana, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand. India possesses the second largest road network in the world which amounts to approximately 3.3 million km.
