Ministry of Finance of Macedonia has launched a tender process to hire public private partnership (PPP) advisors to structure a legal framework for PPPs in the country.
According to a prior information notice (PIN) published this month:
The purpose of the contract is to strengthen the administrative capacities of the national and local authorities as well as the private sector for implementation of the legal framework for public-private partnership and armonisation of the law on public-private partnership with the latest available EU directive.
The contract is under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), which is the means by which the EU supports reforms in the 'enlargement countries' with financial and technical help. The IPA funds build up the capacities of the countries throughout the accession process, resulting in progressive, positive developments in the region. For the period 2007-2013 IPA had a budget of some €11.5 billion (US$12.7 billion); its successor, IPA II, will build on the results already achieved by dedicating €11.7 billion (US$12.9 million) for the period 2014-2020.
The contract notice is schedule to be published by March this year and the budget available is estimated at €445,000 (US$490,500).
