Lighthouse Infrastructure announces A$100 m solar fund

Lighthouse Infrastructure Management (Lighthouse) has recently announced the launch of its AS$100 million (US$74 million) Lighthouse Solar Fund, which will be raised over two investment offer periods.

The fund will invest in a diversified portfolio of solar photovoltaic systems and contracts with utility, government, commercial & industrial and residential customers.

According to Lighthouse founder and Managing Director, Mitch King, the Solar industry shares many similarities with the early years of infrastructure investment in Australia.

The fund has identified a significant pipeline of opportunities in Australia that is expected to meet the fund’s investment criteria. Additionally, the fund is expected to produce predictable and sustainable cash returns to investors, which are not directly correlated to returns from investment in traditional asset classes.

Mitch King, Lighthouse founder and Managing Director, said:

“Lighthouse Solar provides wholesale investors the unique opportunity to access the emerging $2 billion per annum Australian solar market. Investors in the Fund are expected to earn commercial returns on offer in the Solar market and benefit from the future growth of the industry and subsequent portfolio re-rating as the market matures. Investors will, in addition to earning commercial returns, powerfully apply their capital to achieve long term environmental and social benefits, accelerating Australia’s transition towards a lower carbon society.”

Established in 2007, Lighthouse Infrastructure Management is a specialist investor, adviser and manager, focusing exclusively on infrastructure and alternative assets. Since inception, Lighthouse has been involved in over US$2 billion (1.5 billion) in project value of infrastructure assets in transport infrastructure, social infrastructure and renewables for its investment clients.
