LGIM Infrastructure appoints Senior Investment Associate

LGIM Infrastructure has appointed Erik Westermark as Senior Investment Associate as part of growth strategy of the company in the sector.

Legal & General Investment Management's arm sees a significant demand from internal and external clients to invest across all key infrastructure sectors.

Westermark will report to Silja Turville, Head of LGIM Infrastructure. The infrastructure team is now formed by six professionals.

LGIM Infrastructure forms part of the Real Assets division of Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM Real Assets).

Westermark worked at Citi Global Markets and mostly recently at Lloyds Bank focusing on infrastructure, energy and acquisition finance.

LGIM Infrastructure was established in 2012. Initially dedicated to LGIM’s internal capital base, the business has since also opened up its expertise to external clients. Last year, L&G’s direct investment capabilities in property and infrastructure were brought together as a single business (LGIM Real Assets).

The Infrastructure division has concluded 18 deals to date, the majority debt investments. It has already invested in transport, renewable energy, communication networks and PPP and PFI schemes.

Silja Turville, Head of LGIM Infrastructure, said regarding the hire:

“The addition of Erik represents part of a further commitment to growing our infrastructure capability. Now with a team of six supported by the wider LGIM network, we have the ability to structure the large and complex transactions across all key infrastructure sectors, coupled with the depth of experience to actively invest in the UK, Europe and the United States.”
