The objective of the assignment is to increase the bed capacity of its seven main hospitals from 900 to 3,000. This includes the design, building, provision of equipment, installation and management services. It also aims to interconnect the existing County Hospital facilities on a common Hospital Management System (HMS) platform.

The seven main hospitals are the following:

  • Kiambu - 400 beds
  • Ruiru - 400 beds
  • Thika - 400 beds
  • Lari - 200 beds
  • Kikuyu - 200 beds,
  • Kabete - 200 beds
  • Tigoni - 200 bed

Kiambu county is a county in the former central province of Kenya, comprises 12 constituencies. Its capital is Kiambu and its largest town is Thika. The county is adjacent to the northern border of Nairobi County and has a population of 1,623,282 inhabitants. The county is in the process of improving its hospital facilities infrastructure. The intention is to position Kiambu county as the regional Health Care Hub based on its proximity with the neighboring counties such as Nairobi, Muranga, Nakuru and Kajiado.
