The Kenyan Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development (MLHUD) has issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) for the development 10,000 housing units in Nairobi City county through a PPP project.
The Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development under the National Housing Programme seeks to facilitate the development of over 300,000 housing units across the country and it has advanced that most of the housing development will be done through PPP contractual arrangements.
The programme commences with the construction of over 10,000 housing units in parcels of land located in Nairobi City county. The projects will comprise financing, design, construction and management of housing units and associated amenities as indicated below:
It is expected the construction will take about 3 years while operations and transfers may take 10 years.
Interested parties must submit their qualification documents on or before 15 August 2014.
In mid December 2013 we reported that MLHUD had invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from local and international investors to indicate their interest in the project. At that time, there were plans to commence the program with construction of over 6,000 housing units and it was estimated a construction period of 2 years.
