Jordan launches RFEOI for waste-to-energy plant

The government of Jordan has launched a request for expression of interest (RFEOI) to develop a waste-to-energy (WtE) plant in the vicinity of the Al Ekaider landfill.

The project will be developed through the public private partnership (PPP) model on build, own and operate (BOT) basis. The concession contract will have a period of 25 years.

Interested parties have to submit their proposals to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) of Jordan on or before 20 June 2017. The new facility will have a maximum capacity of 1,000 tons of waste per day and the electricity produced by the plant will be purchased by National Electric Power Company (NEPCO).

It is expected that the successful bidders will enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MEMR to start the development of the feasibility studies and due diligence work, among others.
