John Laing sells 30% stake in M6 Hungary road project

John Laing Group plc, the international originator, active investor and manager of infrastructure projects, announces the completion of the disposal of its 30% shareholding in MAK Mecsek Autopálya Koncessziós Zrt., the operator of part of the M6 road in Hungary, for cash consideration of €26.2 million (US$27.9 million), adjusted for both a distribution received by John Laing after the sale was agreed, and interest accrued on the consideration (before costs).

The sale was originally agreed in December 2016. However, following the exercise of pre-emption rights by co-shareholders in the project company, STRABAG AG and Intertoll-Europe ZRT, new sale and purchase agreements were entered into on 1 February 2017; completion under those agreements has now taken place.

The project involves:

• M6, M9 junction of the M6 motorway sections of 141 kilometers.
• M6 motorway between Szekszard and Boly (141 + 300-192 + 200 km section).
• M60 between Boly and Pecs in the south node (0 + 000-30 + 200 km sections).

The consortium, which was appointed preferred bidder in September 2007, comprises John Laing, Strabag AG, Colas SA and Intertoll Europe Zrt. Construction of the motorway started in December 2007 and completed on 31 March 2010.
