Infrastructure UK CEO Geoffrey Spence joins Lloyds as global head of infrastructure, resources and energy

According to Reuters, Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking has appointed Infrastructure UK CEO Geoffrey Spence as its global head of infrastructure, resources and energy. He will join Lloyds Banking Group in March.

Mr. Spence, who will be based in London, will succeed Lloyds veteran David Boran, who will retire in May after 40 years at the company.

Before being CEO of UK Infrastructure, Mr. Spence worked both in private sector infrastructure finance and in public functions. From 1995 to 2002 he worked for Deutsche Bank as a Managing Director and head of project finance for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He later moved to the public sector as the head of the Treasury’s PFI Policy and Private Finance unit for 2 years, before taking a role as Managing Director and Global Head of Infrastructure at HSBC between 2004 and 2007.

Mr. Spence was also special advisor to the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling, and served on the Treasury’s Council of Economic Advisors from 2008 until 2010.

The bank also appointed head of infrastructure and energy Guillaume Fleuti to the position of managing director, head of corporate debt capital markets.
