Infrastructure Australia awards contracts to audit the nation's infrastructure

Infrastructure Australia announced on February 7, 2014, that it awarded two contracts to get assistance with auditing of the nation's infrastructure.

The first contract was awarded to ACIL Allen Consulting Pty Ltd which has significant experience in economic forecasting and providing advice to government and industry across the all infrastructure sectors. This work package involves a comprehensive audit of existing nationally significant infrastructure across Australia. The objective of this audit is to help develop a 15-year project pipeline to address potential future infrastructure gap.

The audit will bring together the work already undertaken by Infrastructure Australia including the recently released 'State of Play' report, 'Urban Transport Strategy', the 2013 National Infrastructure Plan, and the National Ports and Land Freight strategies.

The second contract was awarded to a consortium formed by PricewaterhouseCoopers and GHD. The consortium will work with Infrastructure Australia to undertake an audit of infrastructure in Northern Australia. This work package covers water, energy, transport, and communications infrastructure that are considered to be critical to the current and future development of Northern Australia.

The objective of this audit is to feed into the Australian Governments White Paper on Developing Northern Australia that will provide a platform to realising the full economic potential of the north.
