IFC seeks hospital planning & design consultant for hospitals project in Odisha

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is seeking a hospital planning & design consultant to roll out a network of between 6 - 12 low cost hospitals across the state of Odisha, India, on a PPP basis.

The consultant is expected to develop design specifications and recommendations, architectural briefs, standard operating procedures, incorporating energy efficient and operational efficient design concept for 200 bed hospitals to be developed across the state.

As the lead transaction advisor, IFC will structure the rollout of low-cost hospitals that will offer quality medical care at affordable prices to all residents, especially those living in smaller towns and rural areas. 

The Odisha Affordable Healthcare Project will develop between up to a dozen hospitals with 50-200 beds each. At its full capacity of 2,400 beds, the project will increase overall beds in the state by 8% and increase availability of private beds by 15%. The project is the first large and systematic roll-out of hospitals under the PPP mode in India. 

The project is expected to attract private investments between US$30 million and US$50 million. 

Interested parties for the consultancy assignment must submit their expression of interest (EOIs) on or before March 4, 2016.

In the past, IFC has worked with the government of Odisha to promote private sector-led growth in the strategic sectors of agribusiness and tourism and implemented PPP projects in sectors such as energy-efficient street-lighting and solid waste management.IFC's committed portfolio in India is over US$5 billion as of June 30, 2015.
