The Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT) of Mexico, the national federal entity in Mexico in charge of concession projects, has recently announced that Las Varas - Puerto Vallarta PPP project has only received a technical proposal from IDEAL.
In 2014, IDEAL already submitted an unsolicited proposal to the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation of Mexico for the road construction and operation.
As we reported in January 2016, after the IDEAL's submission, the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation decided to launch a tender process for the project development through a public private partnership model.
Besides IDEAL, companies as Omega, Sacyr, Coconal, Mota-Engil and P-infra expressed interest in the project development but they finally did not submit a final proposal for the project.
The project involves the design, build, finance, operation and maintenance (DBFOM) during 30 years of the Las Varas - Puerto Vallarta highway in the states of Jalisco and Nayarit.
The PPP project consist of a two-lane highway with a length of 83 kilometers with an investment estimated at US$376 million that will reduce by the half the current journey time.
The opening of the economic proposal submitted by IDEAL will be on April 19, and the final decision will be on May 3.
